Una ciudad como Toledo, es Patrimonio de la Humanidad, pues sus estrechas calles emanan un fuerte sabor histórico, tras la antigua Toletum (la romana Toledo), los visigodos dieron a Toledo la capital de Hispania, y durante el Medievo fue la “capital de las tres culturas” su apogeo cultural llegará con la Escuela de Traductores y la traducción de clásicos griegos, hebreos y árabes a la lengua latina y castellana, que permitiría la reintroducción del clasicismo antiguo en Europa por España, favoreciendo el despertar de Europa; los Habsburgo mantuvieron su interés por la ciudad como vemos en la puerta de la Bisagra y en el Alcázar; por todo ello, Toledo juega un papel destacado en la historia de Europa .

Los monumentos romanos (circo y presa), están fuera del casco antiguo de Toledo, los demás dentro del casco antiguo. El circo romano se encuentra en un parque junto a la Av. de Carlos III. TOLEDO ROMANO. EL CIRCO

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Tenemos un magnifico circo romano (1), del que se conservan estructuras de la cavea de opus caementicium; mide 422 x 112 metros. Cronología del siglo I, construido por Octavio Augusto.

Se conservan hoy en día los restos de una presa romana llamada de “Alcantarilla”, en el pueblo de Mazarambroz a 40 Km. de Toledo, desde allí hay una red de conducciones de agua y depósitos, llegando a Toledo junto al puente de Alcántara, donde hay restos del acueducto, hoy solo se ven los arranques de los pilares a ambos lados del Tajo.

El circo no tiene entrada, ni horarios.

ROMAN TOLETUM –THE CIRCUS

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

We have a wonderful Roman circus (1), from which are preserved structures of the cavea of opus caementicium; measures 422 x 122 meters (1384 x 367 ft). Chronology of the first century, built by Augustus.

Today the remains of a Roman dam called “Alcantarilla” are preserved in the town of Mazarambroz to 40 Km (25,85 miles) from Toledo; from there start a net of water pipe and reservoirs, reaching Toledo next to the Alcántara bridge, where there are remains of the aqueduct, today only the foundations can be seen on both sides of the Tagus river.

SINAGOGA DE SANTA MARÍA LA BLANCA -TOLEDO

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La Sinagoga de Santa Maria la Blanca (3) se construyó en el siglo XIII, es obra mudéjar, en el siglo XV se transformó en iglesia; capiteles, arcos y yeserías hablan de la grandeza pasada.

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

La visita a la sinagoga de Santa María la Blanca son 2,50 €, el horario de lunes a domingo es de 10:00-17:45 (mayo- octubre).

The synagogue of Santa María la Blanca (3) was built in the 13 th century, it is Mudejar work, in the 15 th century it became a church; capitals, arches and plaster-works tell about the greatness of the past.

The visit of the synagogue of Santa Maria la Blanca is € 2,50, the timetable from Monday to Sunday is from 10 am to 5,45 (May-October).

		SINAGOGA DEL TRÁNSITO - TOLEDO INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA La sinagoga del Transito (4) dispone de un nicho en el muro sagrado, hekal y una galería de mujeres; la sala de oración es un palacete gótico, con ricas yeserías de aire cordobés y un no menos bello artesonado; el edificio data del siglo XIV. HORARIOS-ENTRADA La sinagoga del Tránsito tiene horario de verano (marzo-octubre) de martes a sábado de 9:30-19:30 y de invierno de martes a sábado de 9:30-18:00, con tarifa general 3€ y otras reducidas. ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS El acceso y la movilidad interior a la sinagoga del Tránsito, es factible (con mayor o menor dificultad), no obstante no tienen aseos adaptados (equalitasvitae).				TRANSITO SYNAGOGUE - TOLEDO HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION The Transito sinagogue (4) has a niche in the sacred wall, hekal and a women gallery; the prayer room is a Gothic palace, with rich plasterwork of Cordoban air and a no less beautiful coffered ceiling; the building dates back to the 14 th century. TICKETS AND TIMETABLE Summer timetable (March-October) from Tuesday to Saturday is from 9,30 am to 9,30 pm and winter from Tuesday to Saturday from 9,30 am to 8 pm; with a general rate of € 3 and other reduced rates. ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED Access and internal mobility to the Transito synagogue is feasible (with more or less difficulty), however they don't have adapted toilets (equalitasvitae).

MEZQUITA DEL CRISTO DE LA LUZ - TOLEDO

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La mezquita del Cristo de la Luz (9) es un edificio de planta cuadrada de época califal, del siglo X, en el siglo XII se añadió la cabecera románico-mudéjar de ábside semicircular y presbiterio recto.

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

La mezquita del Cristo de la Luz tiene un horario de lunes a viernes de 10:00-14:00 y de 15:30-17:45, sábados, domingos y festivos es de 10:00-17:45, en verano (mayo-octubre) el cierre se amplia a las 18:40; tarifa 2,50 €.

MOSQUE OF CRISTO DE LA LUZ - TOLEDO

The mosque of Cristo de la Luz (9) is a square-shaped building from the Caliph period of the 10 th c.; in the 12 th century the Romanesque-Mudejar head of semicircular apse and the right presbitery were added.

PUERTA DEL SOL - TOLEDO

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La Puerta del Sol (10) es de estilo mudéjar, data del siglo XIV y es una puerta albarrana con arco de herradura apuntado encima hay un friso de arcos entrecruzados.

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

La puerta del Sol, se pueden visitar desde el exterior, incluso se puede subir al adarve.

GATE OF EL SOL - TOLEDO

Gate of El Sol (10) is Mudejar style, dates from the 14 th century and is an advanced gate with pointed horseshoe arch on the top there is a frieze of interlocking arches.
