CIUDAD DE VASCOS (NAVALMORALEJO)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Tenemos murallas de mampostería (de 3 m. de altura), con torres cuadradas, un alcázar sobre un cerro, viviendas cuadrangulares compartimentadas con patio y un cementerio o “campo de cirios”. Se cree que la ciudad pudo ser un importante centro metalúrgico. Cronología califal de los siglos X y XI, abandonada en el siglo XI.

ACCESO

Acceso por la A-5 desde Oropesa, cogiendo la CM-4100 a Puente del Arzobispo, pasado este pueblo, dirección aLa Estrella, en ella esta el cartel para acceder al yacimiento por una estrecha pista de unos 5 Km.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

We have masonry walls of 3 meters (9,8 ft) high with square towers, a fortress on a hill, quadrangular houses compartmentalized with courtyard and a cemetery of Campo de Cirios” (field of candles). It is believed that the city could be an important metallurgical center. Caliphate chronology of the 10 th and 11 th centuries, abandoned in the 11 th c.

MONUMENTOS DE TALAVERA

En el siglo XIII ya bajo dominación cristiana, se construyeron en Talavera un conjunto defensivo, con murallas y torres albarranas (en origen 47), son de gran altura, recia sillería y salpican Talavera. También puedes visitar el puente romano, llamado “puente viejo”, que es una restauración del siglo XV.

Entre las iglesias de Talavera podemos visitar la iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Prado, patrona de Talavera, de estilo renacentista y barroco cuenta con la que algunos llaman “La capilla Sixtina de la Cerámica”, destaca además la Iglesia de Santa María la Mayor, que tiene un claustro gótico y torre del siglo XVIII y la Iglesia de Santiago el Nuevo de estilo mudéjar.

Acceso libre a murallas y puente, mientras el horario de Nuestra Señora del Prado es de 7:00-14:00 y de 16:00-20:30, entrada 2 €., para Santa María la Mayor la entrada es gratis y el horario es de lunes a viernes de 10:00-11:00 y los domingos de 12:00-13:00; la iglesia de Santiago el Nuevo tiene entrada gratis, horario de lunes a domingo de 11:00-13:00 y de 17:00-20:00.

Talavera se ubica a 110 Kilómetros de Madrid por la A-5, a 90 Km. de Toledo y a 230 Kilometros de la ciudad de Mérida.

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

Admission is free to walls and bridge, while the time of Nuestra Señora del Prado is from 7 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 8,30 pm; rate € 2. For Sª Maria la Mayor admission is free and the opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10 am to 11 am and on Sundays from 12 am to 1 pm; the church of Santiago el Nuevo has free admission, from Monday to Sunday from 11 to 1 and from 5 to 8.

Talavera is located 110 Km. (68 miles) from Madrid by the A-5; 90 Km (55 miles) from Toledo and 230 Km (142 miles) from Mérida.

ATALAYA DE SEGURILLA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

La atalaya de Segurilla es una torreta islámica de 18 metros de altura, que data del siglo X, formaba parte del dispositivo de defensa del califato, algunos la datan en tiempos de Abd-al-Rahman III. Pueden observarse hoy en día los mechinales donde se ubicaba la viguería y magníficas vistas de Talavera y Gredos.

SEGURILLA'S WATCHTOWER

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The watchtower of Segurilla is an Andalusi turret of 18 meters (59 ft) of height, dates from 10th century, was part of the device of defense of the Caliphate; some it dates in the days of Abd-al-Rahman III. It's possible to see the mechinals of the beams, and to see wonderful views of Talavera and Gredos.
