MURALLAS DE OLMEDO

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Las murallas de Olmedo son medievales, las torres son de planta cuadrada. En el Paseo de la Soterraña es donde mejor se puede contemplar, sobre todo la zona norte y oriental. Hay que destacar los arcos de la villa y el de San Miguel. Los especialistas las vinculan al mundo mudéjar del Medievo, a la repoblación del pueblo.

Muy interesante es la iglesia de San Miguel, de estilo mudéjar, que custodia en su cripta a la virgen de la Soterraña del siglo XIII. Muy monumental debió de ser la iglesia de San Andrés, con una fuerte influencia del mudéjar de Sahagún, dentro los sepulcros del siglo XIV acaparan la atención.

Walls of Olmedo are Medieval, the towers are of square plan. In Paseo de la Soterraña is where you can best behold, especially the north the east area. It is necessary to emphasize the gates of the town and specialley the Arch of San Miguel. The specialists link them to Mudejar world of the Middle Ages, to the repopulation of the people.

Very interesting is the church of San Miguel, Mudejar style, which holds in its crypt the virgin of Soterraña of 13 th century. The church of San Andres must have been very monumental, with a strong influence of Mudejar of Sahagun, inside the tombs of the 14 th century are the more important.

El castillo de la Mota es del siglo XIV, de arte mudéjar, representa el esplendor militar de la España de los Reyes Católicos. Tiene una formidable torre de homenaje, 2 recintos, foso; en origen el acceso era por puente levadizo (hoy fijo), un gran arco de los Reyes Católicos corona la entrada. Dentro destaca sobre todo el patio de armas y la capilla de Santa María del Castillo que son los elementos más interesantes.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

El horario de invierno (octubre-marzo) es de martes a sábado de 10:00-14:00 y de 15:45-18:00, domingos y festivos de 10:00-14:30. El horario de verano (abril-septiembre) de martes a sábado es de 10:00-14:00 y de 15:45-19:00, domingos y festivos es de 10:00-14:30. Lunes cerrado. Tarifa general 4 €, hay tarifas reducidas.

The castle of La Mota is dated in 14 th century, of Mudejar style, represents the military splendor of Spain with the Catholic Monarchs. It has a formidable keep, 2 enclosures, moat; in origin the access was by drawbridge (now fixed), a great arch of the Catholic Kings crowns the entrance. Inside the courtyard and the Chapel of Santa Maria del Castillo are the most interesting elements.

Winter time (October-March) is from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 3,45 pm to 6 pm; Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 2,39 pm. The summer timetable (April-September) from Tuesday to Saturday is from 10 am to 2 pm and from 3,45 pm to 7 pm; Sundays and public holidays are from 10 pm to 2,30 pm. Closed Monday. Rate € 4.

La villa de Almenara de Adaja parece datarse entre los siglos III y V d.C. El yacimiento esta protegido con una nave cubierta, albergando la villa sensacionales mosaicos. Las paredes estaban pintadas al fresco, los techos se cubrieron con teja curva. El yacimiento se completa con un museo.

The village of Almenara de Adaja seems to date between the 3 rd and 5 th centuries AD. The site is protected with a covered structure, housing sensational mosaics. The walls were frescoed, the ceilings were covered roof tiles. The site is completed with a museum.
