CATEDRAL DE ZAMORA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Zamora tiene catedral con bellísimo cimborrio románico, se data en el siglo XII, es de origen románico, completada en estilo gótico (ábside) y herreriano (claustro). El cimborrio es lo más destacado, es de influencia bizantina, con escamas, tiene 16 ventanales con vidrieras, la puerta del obispo en el flanco sur es románica; al siglo XIII pertenece la torre del Salvador con 45 m.; en el interior hay un gran número de capillas de distintos estilos, con imaginería de primer orden.

ENTRADAS-HORARIOS

La entrada son 5 € y el horario es: Horario de verano (abril-septiembre) es de lunes a domingo de 10:00-20:00 y el Horario de invierno (octubre-marzo) es de lunes a domingo de 10:00-14:00 y de 16:30-19:00.
   

CATHEDRAL OF ZAMORA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

Zamora has cathedral with its Romanesque crossin roof. The cathedral of Zamora dates back to the 12 th century, is of Romanesque origin, completed in Gothic (apse) and Herrerian style (cloister). The crossin roof is the most outstanding, is of Byzantine influence, with scales, has 16 large windows with stained glass; the door of the bishop in the south flank is Romanesque; the tower of El Salvador with 45 m (147 ft) belongs to 12 th century; inside there are a large number of chapels with different styles, and imagery.

Admission free for cathedral is € 5 and the timetable is: In summer (April-September) is Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm and in winter (October-March) is from Monday to Sunday 10 am - 2 pm and 4,30 pm – 7 pm

 
 

IGLESIA DE LA MAGDALENA (ZAMORA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia de la Magdalena data del siglo XII, es un templo románico, con un diseño único, muy elegante, de líneas muy sobrias, la portada meridional es sin duda la más bonita; en el interior sobresale sobre todo el sepulcro atribuido a Doña Urraca de Portugal (esposa de Fernando II). Otras interesantes iglesias románicas son las de Santo Tome, Santa Maria la Nueva, San Cipriano, San Claudio de Olivares y Santiago de los Caballeros. En todas ellas se pueden admirar bellísimos capiteles, arquivoltas, columnas, rosetones y ábsides.

ENTRADAS-HORARIOS

El horario para la iglesia de la Magdalena es: Horario de verano (febrero-septiembre) es de martes a sábado de 10:00-13:30 y de 17:15-20:00, los domingos solo por la mañana y el horario invernal (1 octubre-22 diciembre) es de 10:00-13:30 y 16:30-18:45, el domingo solo por la mañana. Los lunes cierra.
   

CHURCH OF LA MAGDALENA (ZAMORA)

The church of the Magdalena from the 12 th century is a Romanesque temple, with a unique design, very elegant, with very sober lines, the southern façade is undoubtedly the most beautiful; inside stands out above all the grave attributed to Doña Urraca of Portugal (wife of the king Fernando II). Other interesting Romanesque churches are Santo Tome, Santa Maria la Nueva, San Cipriano, San Claudio de Olivares and Santiago de los Caballeros. In all of them you can admire beautiful capitals, archivolts, columns, rosettes and apses.

The time of the Magdalena is: In summer (February-September) is from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 1,30 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm; on Sunday only the morning and the winter time (October – December 22th) is from 10 am to 1,30 pm and 2,30 pm to 6,45; Sundays only in the morning. MURALLAS Y CASTILLO DE ZAMORA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Zamora es conocida como “La bien cercada”, gracias a una esplendida muralla y también al dicho “Zamora no se gano en una hora” de 1072, cuando los zamoranos defendieron con valor su ciudad. Los viejos muros romanos y árabes sirvieron para que Fernando I mandase construir el primer recinto, que quedo pequeño ante la expansión urbana, construyéndose otros 2 más, hoy en día conserva algunas puertas como la de Doña Urraca y la del Obispo. Tiene castillo del siglo XI, dispone de foso, contrafoso, patio de armas, aposentos, torre de homenaje y antiguamente puente levadizo.

ENTRADAS-HORARIOS

El horario del castillo es de martes a domingo de 10:00-14:00 y de 17:00-20:00, lunes cerrado; la entrada es gratuita; Prohibido el acceso 20 minutos antes del cierre.

WALLS AND CASTLE OF ZAMORA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

Zamora is known as “The well fenced”, thanks to a splend wall and also to the sentence “Zamora not was won in an hour”, dating from (1072), when Zamorans defended their city. The old Roman and Arab walls served for Fernando I built the first enclosure, which was small before the urban expansion; building two more, today retains some doors as the Doña Urraca and the Bishop. The defensive device was completed with the castle; which dates back to the 11 th century, has a moat, a pit, a courtyard of arms, rooms, a keep and in the past a drawbridge.

The timetable of the castle is from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm, Monday closed; admisión is free; access is forbidden 20 minutes before closing.

IGLESIA DE S. PEDRO DE LA NAVE (CAMPILLO)

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

La Iglesia de San Pedro de la Nave es una iglesia visigoda (siglo VII), desmontada piedra a piedra y trasladada a su actual enclave, para ser salvada de la inmersión en un pantano. Sus capiteles, en especial el del tema de Daniel en el foso de los leones, son de una gran originalidad.

ENTRADAS Y HORARIOS

La entrada es gratuita y el horario es: Horario de verano (marzo-septiembre) de martes a domingo de 10:00-13:00 y de 17:00-20:00. Horario de invierno (1 octubre – 6 enero) de 10:00-14:00 y de 16:30-18:30, domingo solo por la mañana. El lunes cierra.

The church of San Pedro de la Nave is a Visigoth church (7th century), which was dismantled, stone by stone, and moved to its current location, to be saved from inmersion in a swamp. Its capitals especially the capital with the subject of Daniel in the pit of the lions, are of a great originality.

Admision is free and the timetable is: In summer (March-September) from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. In winter (October – January 6 th ) from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4,30 am to 8,30. Sunday morning only. On Monday it closes.
 
 

ACCESO A ZAMORA

UBICACIÓN

TORO: Toro se ubica entre Zamora y Tordesillas (localidad enclavada en la A-6), si vienes por la A-11 la mejor salida es la 425 Toro, este camino todo recto te llevará justo a la zona monumental.

ZAMORA: Zamora es una ciudad pequeña, con zonas interesantes de aparcamiento, en la larga N-122 junto a la muralla puedes aparcar con facilidad; pero si quieres estar cerca del centro tienes parking.

CAMPILLO: Para acceder a la Iglesia desde Zamora hay que coger la N-122, hacia Trabazos y Alcañices y coger la carretera hacia Campillo.

   

ACCESS TO ZAMORA

LOCATION

TORO: Toro is located between Zamora and Tordesillas (locality located in the A-6) if you come by the A-11 the best exit is the 425 Toro, this road straight will take you right to the monumental area.

ZAMORA: Zamora is a small city with very interesting parking areas, in the long N-122 next to the wall you can park easily; but if you want to be closer to the historic center you can leave the car in a parking lot.

CAMPILLO: To access this church from Zamora take the N-122, in the direction of Trabazos and Alcañices and later take the road to Campillo.

 
 

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

TORO: La colegiata tiene escalones en el acceso.

ZAMORA: En Zamora son fácilmente accesibles la iglesia de la Magdalena y la catedral de Zamora, incluso el castillo es muy accesible para sillas de ruedas, salvo la torre de homenaje.

CAMPILLO: Si es accesible a sillas de ruedas.
