CASTILLO (MEQUINENZA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El castillo de Mequinenza, data de los siglos XIV y XV, de estilo gótico; es una construcción palaciega; actualmente vemos 3 torres rectangulares y otra más pentagonal (reforma del siglo XVII); el acceso se realiza por una puerta con arco de medio punto, con el blasón de los Moncada, entre dos torres; sabemos que antiguamente el castillo tenía murallas que rodeaban la población de Mequinenza.

Pertenece a la Fundación Endesa. Visita los martes, con reserva previa en el 974.464.136 (horario de 8 a 15 horas). Visita gratuita.

CASTLE (MEQUINENZA)

The castle of Mequinenza, dates from the 14 th and 15 th centuries, of Gothic style; it is a palatial building; currently we see 3 rectangular towers and another more pentagonal (reform of the 17 th century); access is through a door with a semicircular arch, with the coat of arms of the Moncada, between 2 towers; we know that in the past the castle had walls that surrounded the town of Mequinenza.

IGLESIA DE SANTO DOMINGO (CASPE)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La Iglesia de Santo Domingo de Caspe, tiene 3 naves, cubierta con bóveda de medio cañón, con cúpulas sobre pechinas y cabecera poligonal; conserva parcialmente el claustro, que tenia 2 alturas. La torre cuadrada es de dos cuerpos, sobresale el cuerpo superior de ladrillo.

CHURCH OF SANTO DOMINGO (CASPE)

The church of Santo Domingo de Caspe, has 3 naves, covered with a half-barrel vault, with domes onscallops and polygonal head; partially retains the cloister, which had 2 levels. The square tower has 2 levels, stand out the upper of brick.

TORRE DE SALAMANCA (CASPE)

La torre de Salamanca, es un edificio militar construido en el siglo XIX, en pleno romanticismo; se ubica sobre el promontorio del “Cabezo de Monteagudo”, tiene planta rectangular, sus almenas tienen un aspecto palaciego, dotándose de aspilleras para fusilería.

TOWER OF SALAMANCA (CASPE)

The tower of Salamanca is a military building built in the 19th century, in full Romanticism; it is located on the promontory of the “Cabezo de Monteagudo”, it has a rectangular floor plan, its battlements have a palatial aspect, equiped with loopholes for rifle.

COLEGIATA DE SANTA MARÍA (CASPE)

La Colegiata de Santa María la Mayor de Caspe es un edificio de estilo gótico, con influencias cistercienses, dispone de 3 naves cubiertas con bóvedas de crucería, la cabecera es de muro recto, mientras la torre es del siglo XIX, de estilo neoclásico. La portada principal es del siglo XV con arquivoltas y capiteles. El retablo del Altar Mayor es una replica exacata del original del siglo XV.

The Collegiate church of Santa María la Mayor de Caspe is a Gothic style building, with Cistercian influences, it has 3 naves covered with ribbed vaults, the head is a straight wall, while the tower is from the 19th century, and of neoclassical style. main façade is from 15th century with archivolts and capitals. The altarpiece of the High Altar is an exact replica of the original from 15th century.

TUMBA DE MIRALPEIX (CASPE)

Mausoleo de época romana, datado entre el siglo II d.C. y el III d.C., esta construido en sillares de arenisca, con 2 fuertes muros, cubiertos por una simple bóveda de cañón.

MIRALPEIX'S TOMB (CASPE)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

It is a mausoleum of Roman times, dating from the 2 nd century AD and 3 rd century AD is built in sandstone ashlars, with strong walls, covered by a simple barrel vault.

ACCESO A CARRETERA (CASPE)

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

Mequinenza se encuentra junto a la N-II (junto a Fraga, ciudad muy próxima a Lleida), también puedes acceder por la AP-2 (salida 4). La tumba de Miralpeix se situa en Caspe (pueblo ubicado en la N-211, entre Fraga y Alcañiz).

ACCESO PARA MINUSVALIDOS:

Con silla de ruedas, no es factible al castillo (escaleras). Tampoco la visita es factible en Caspe, al convento de S. Domingo (ruinas), a la colegiata de Sª María (escaleras) y a la torre de Salamanca (escaleras). Acceso sencillo para sillas de ruedas a la tumba de Miralpeix

ACCESS BY ROAD (CASPE)

LOCATION

Mequinenza is located next to the N-II (next to Fraga, city very close to Lleida) you can also access it by the AP-2 (exit 4). The Miralpeix's tomb is located in Caspe (town located on the N-211, between Fraga and Alcañiz).

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED

With wheelchair, visit not feasible to the castle (stairs). You can't visit in Caspe, like the convent of Santo Domingo (ruins), the collegiate church of Santa María (stairs) and the tower of Salamanca (stairs). Access suitable for wheelchair to Miralpeix tomb.
