CASTILLOS ANDALUSIES (CALATAYUD)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Calatayud se doto de un conjunto fortificado, único en España. Podemos ver hasta 5 castillos, el de “Doña Martina” (quizás el más antiguo y el único de sillares); el “Real” y el castillo “De la Peña”, el recinto de “Torre Mocha” y el “Castillo Mayor” o Alcazaba (con 2 torres octogonales domina la ciudad). Fosos, escarpas, torres, torres albarranas, arcos de herradura, murallas de unión, refuerzan estas fortalezas. Datación general del siglo IX, cuando se funda Qalat Ayyub (Castillo de Ayub).

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

El acceso al castillo de Ayub o castillo Mayor es libre, no hay horarios, ni entradas.

   

ANDALUSI CASTLES (CALATAYUD)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

Calatayud is a fortified complex, unique in Spain. We can see until 5 castles, the castel of Doña Martina (perhaps the oldest and the only build in ashlar), the Real castle, the De la Peña castle, the Torre Mocha castle and the Mayor castle or Alcazaba (with 2 octogonal towers dominates the city). Moats, escarpments, towers, advanced towers, horseshoe arches, walls of union, reinforce the fortress. The general dating is 9 th century, when is founded Qalat Ayyub (Ayub castle in Arab).

The access for Mayor castle is free, no timetables, no tickets.
 
 

IGLESIAS MUDÉJARES (CALATAYUD)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Destacan 3 iglesias mudéjares como son las de San Andrés (ss. XIV y XVI), con una bonita torre de planta octogonal; la iglesia de San Pedro de los Francos con orígenes en el siglo XII, con una torre inclinada hacia la calle; por otro lado la iglesia de San Pedro debió de construirse sobre una mezquita, quizás en el siglo XII, destacando el abovedamiento de crucería y su alta torre mudéjar, la torre es del siglo XVI de planta octogonal como la de Santa María; por último la iglesia de Santa María, fue edificada sobre una mequita hacia el siglo XII, pero el interior es barroco, la torre es octogonal con fuertes contrafuertes en las aristas y el chapitel es de pizarra del siglo XVIII.

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

El Museo de la Colegiata de Santa María abre los sábados de 11:00-13:00 la entrada general son 2€, hay entradas reducidas, los templos suelen estar abiertos y la entrada es gratis.
   

MUDEJAR CHURCHES (CALATAYUD)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

We stand out 3 Mudéjar churches such as the church of San Andrés (14th -16th centuries), with a beautiful octagonal tower, the church of San Pedro de los Francos with origins in the 12th century, with a tower inclined towards the street; on the other hand the church of San Pedro had to be built over a mosque, perhaps in the 12th century emphasizing the ribbon vaults and its Mudéjar tower, the tower is from 16th century of octagonal plan like the church of Santa María; finally the church of Sª María was built on a mosque towards the 12 th c., but the inside is Baroque, the tower is octagonal with strong buttresses on the edges and the spire was made of slate in 18th c.

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

The collegiate-church of Santa Maria opens on Saturdays from 11 am to 1 pm; the rate is € 2, there are reduced tickets, temples are usually open and admission is free.
 
 

CERRO DE LA BAMBOLA “BILBILIS” (CALATAYUD)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Los orígenes parecen fundirse con el mundo celtibérico y en las guerras sertorianas (80-72 a.C.). Tras las excavaciones del conde Samitier (1900-1910), las de Sentenach (1917) y las de Schulten (1933). Las excavaciones las dirige M. Martín Bueno desde los 70'. Tenemos restos de un monumental foro, con templo, basílica, curia, no menos interesantes son las termas, cisternas de bóveda de opus caementicium etc...

Actualmente el yacimiento esta cerrado, aunque algunos visitantes se cuelan.

   

SITE CERRO DE LA BAMBOLA “BILBILIS” (CALATAYUD)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The origins seems to begin with the Celtiberian world and the Sertorian wars (80-72 BC). After the excavations by the Count Samitier (1900-1910), dug Sentenach (197), and Schulten (1933). The excavations are directed by M. Martín Bueno in th 70's, we have the remains of a monumental forum, with a temple, basilica, curia, no less interesting are the baths, cisterns with vaults of opus caementicium etc...

At the moment the site is closed, although some visitors usually go into.

 
 

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

CALATAYUD: No son visitables con silla de ruedas (los castillos); pero si se pueden visitar las Iglesias (hay algún escalón).

BILBILIS: No visitable con silla de ruedas.

TORRALBA Y MORATA: Visitable con silla de ruedas.

NUEVALOS (Monasterio y Parque Natural) No apto para sillas de ruedas, en una buena parte del recorrido, aunque los visitantes con silla de ruedas acceden gratis y el acompañante paga un 50%.
   

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

CALATAYUD: Access not visitable with wheelchairs tothe castles, but you can visit the churches (only there are one step).

BILBILIS: The site isn't suitable for wheelchair.

TORRALBA & MORATA: Visitable with wheelchair.

NUEVALOS (Monastery & park): Not suitable for wheelchairs, for a good part of the tour, although visitors with a wheelchair has access free the companion has discounts of around 50 %.
