Para los amantes del Mudéjar; en Zaragoza hay que visitar la catedral de Tarazona, BIC desde 2002, sus orígenes se remontan al s. XII, pero ha sido reconstruida varias veces, hay que admirar el cimborrio mudéjar.

HORARIOS-ENTRADA

Horario de miércoles a viernes de 11:00-14:00 y de 16:00-18:00, sábados de 11:00-14:00 y de 16:00-19:00, los domingos es de 11:00-14:00, lunes y martes cerrado. La entrada general son 4€. Hay entradas reducidas.

For Mudéjar lovers, in Zaragoza you must visit the cathedral of Tarazona, BIC since 2002, its origins go back to the 12 th century; but has been built and rebuilt several times, you have to admire the Mudejar dome.

La iglesia de San Francisco de Asís de Tarazona, es un edificio de estilo mudéjar, que data del siglo XIV, pero la fisonomía actual es el resultado de reformas del siglo XVI; la iglesia forma parte de un convento; en el interior vemos una única nave, con cabecera poligonal, con cubierta de bóveda de crucería; mientras el claustro es una obra de los siglos XV y XVI.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The church of San Francisco de Asís of Tarazona, is a Mudejar-style building, dating from the 14 th century, but the current physiognomy is the result of reforms of the 16 th century; the church is part of a convent; inside we see a single nave, with a polygonal head, with a ribbed vault façade; while the cloister is a work of the 15 th -16 th centuries.

IGLESIA DE LA MERCED (TARAZONA)

La iglesia de la Merced de Tarazona, es un edificio construido en el siglo XVII; construida en sillería y ladrillo, en el interior vemos una planta de cruz latina, con una única nave, cubierta con bóveda de cañón con lunetos; el retablo mayor es del siglo XVIII; en el exterior la fachada es un arco de medio punto, enmarcado por pilastras y una hornacina.

The church of La Merced of Tarazona, is a building built in the 17 th century; built in ashlar masonry and brick, inside we see a Latin cross plan, with a single nave, cover with barrel vault with lunettes; the main altarpiece is from 18 th century; outside we see the facade with semicircular arch, framed by pilasters and a niche.

La Judería de Tarazona, es un barrio medieval ubicado junto a la antigua fortaleza andalusí, entre las calles Judería, Rúa Alta, Rúa Baja y Aires. Una serie de puertas delimitan el espacio como la Puerta de la Plaza Nueva (Plaza España), la Porticella (Rúa Baja) y la Puerta de la Zuda (Rúa Alta), sabemos que existieron 2 sinagogas.

The Jewish ghetto of Tarazona is a medieval neighborhood located next to the old Andalusian fortress, between the streets of Juderia, Rúa Alta, Rúa Baja and Aires. A set of doors delimit the space such as the Gate of la Plaza Nueva (Plaza España), the Porticella (Rúa Baja) and the Gate of la Zuda (Rúa Alta), we know that there were 2 synagogues.

Las murallas medievales de Tarazona se construyeron en el siglo XIV, los materiales constructivos son sillarejo y cantos rodados; en algún punto tiene hasta 5 metros de grosor; en origen tuvo diversas torres, hoy se conservan la Torre del Rey (con el escudo de Aragón) y la Torre del Cubo; los mejores tramos pueden verse en la calle Alfara y en la plaza Puerto.

The medieval walls of Tarazona were built in the 14 th century, the building materials are rubblework and boulders; at some point it is to 5 m. (16,4 ft) thick; in origin it had several towers, today the King's Tower (with the coat of arms of Aragón) and the Tower of the Cubo are preserved; the best sections can be seen in Alfara street and in Plaza Puerto.

El Ayuntamiento de Tarazona es un bonito edificio del siglo XVI, que curiosamente apoya sobre la muralla medieval, el acceso se realiza por un arco de medio punto, las ventanas son rectangulares entre el 2º y 3º piso vemos un friso que narra la coronación imperial del emperador Carlos I, en la fachada hay 3 escudos (Carlos I, Aragón y Tarazona), y figuras alegóricas (Justicia y Sabiduría); muy original es la galería del 3º piso de arcos de medio punto.

TOWN HALL (TARAZONA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The Town Hall of Tarazona is a beautiful building of the 16 th century, which curiously leans on the medieval walls, the access is made by a semicircular arch, the windows are rectangular between 2 nd and 3 rd floor we see a frieze that narrates the imperial coronation of emperor Carlos I, in the facade there are 3 coat of arms (Carlos I, Aragon and Tarazona) and allegorical figures (Justice and Wisdom); very original is the gallery of the 3 rd floor of semicircular arches.

La iglesia de La Magdalena de Tarazona conserva elementos de distintas épocas (siglos XII a XVII); en el exterior destacan los ábsides románicos de sillería, la torre mudéjar del siglo XV; en el interior destacan las capillas laterales de los siglos XVI y XVII de estilo barroco y la cubierta de bóveda de cañón con lunetos del siglo XVII.

The church of La Magdalena de Tarazona preserves elements from different eras (12 th to 17 th centuries); outside we stand out the Romanesque apses of ashlar masonry, the Mudejar tower of 15 th century; inside we stand out the lateral chapels from 16 th -17 th centuries of baroque style and the cover of barrel vault with lunettes of 17 th century.

La iglesia de San Atiliano de Tarazona es una construcción de estilo barroco, que se data en el siglo XVIII, construida en sillería, sillarejo y ladrillo; en el interior destacan sus 3 naves, cubiertas con bóvedas de cañón con lunetos; en el crucero tenemos una cúpula; en el exterior tenemos una fachada con pilastras, acceso por arco de medio punto y hornacina. Actualmente es un pequeño museo.

It is currently a small museum

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

Puedes acceder a Tarazona desde Tudela (por la N-121), o desde Zaragoza (por la N-232 y la N-122) y desde Soria (por la N-122).

ACCESO PARA MINUSVALIDOS:

Con silla de ruedas el acceso no es factible a la iglesia de San Francisco de Tarazona (escaleras) a San Atiliano de Tarazona (escaleras), al Ayuntamiento (escaleras) y a La Magdalena de Tarazona ( escalones interiores ); pero si es factible a la iglesia de la Merced de Tarazona, a las inmediaciones de la muralla y a la Judería. Para la catedral visita factible para silla de ruedas.

You can access Tarazona from Tudela (on the N-121), or from Zaragoza (on the N-232 and N-122) and from Soria (on the N-122).

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED

Wheelchair access not feasible to the church of San Francico (stairs) to San Atiliano de Tarazona (stairs), to the Town Hall (stairs) and to La Magdalena of Tarazona (inside stairs); but it is feasible to the church of La Merced of Tarazona, near the wall and the Jewish guetto. For the cathedral feasible visit with wheelchair. .
