CATEDRAL DE SEGORBE

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La catedral de Segorbe se remonta al siglo XIII, cuando se construye junto a la muralla, completándose en el siglo XV, por tanto es un edificio gótico de una nave con capillas laterales; también gótico es el claustro y la sala capitular del siglo XV; más tarde se realizó la fachada que es barroca del siglo XVIII. También destacan las iglesias de San Pedro Apóstol y de Santa Ana.

The Segorbe Cathedral dates back to the 13 th century, when it was built next to the wall, and was completed in the 15th century, It is so a Gothic building with a side chapel; also Gothic is the cloister and the chapter house of the 15th century; later the façade that was Baroque of the 18th century was realized. Also recommended are the churches of San Pedro Apostle and Santa Ana.

El acueducto de Segorbe es una magnífica obra de ingeniería, datada entre los siglos XI y XII, pero el tramo hoy visible en la localidad de Segorbe de arcos apuntados se data en el siglo XIV; finalmente en el siglo XIX se eliminaron varios arcos para ampliar la carretera y se añadió un canal de hierro.

AQUEDUCT OF SEGORBE

The aqueduct of Segorbe is a magnificent engineering work, dating from the 11 th to 12 th centuries, but the section visible today in the town of Segorbe with pointed arches dates back to the 14 th century; finally in the 19 th century several arches were removed to expand the road and an iron channel was added.

		MURALLAS DE SEGORBE INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA Las murallas de Segorbe tenían una longitud de un kilómetro, se remontan como poco al siglo XI, buena parte del trazado actual responde a la muralla construida en el siglo XIV, conservándose puertas de acceso como el Portal del Argén del siglo XI o el Portal de Teruel del siglo XIV o torres emblemáticas de las murallas de Segorbe como la torre de la Cárcel del siglo XIV y la torre del Botxi del siglo XIV. WALLS OF SEGORBE HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION The walls of Segorbe were one kilometer long (0.62 miles), dating back to the 11th century, a good part of the current section corresponds to the wall built in the 14th century, with access gates such as Portal or Argen from the 11th century or the Portal of Teruel from 14th century or the emblematic towers of the walls of Segorbe like the tower of the Prison from 14th century and the tower of the Botxi from 14th century. 		CASTILLO DE JERICA INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA En la localidad castellonense de Jerica se conserva hoy en día restos de un castillo del que sobresale una torre y poco más, aun se aprecian cimientos romanos y muros de época andalusí; gran parte del edificio fue destruido con las Guerras Carlistas. La torre mayor, llamada “La Torreta” tiene muros de 1,5 m. de grosor y bóvedas de medio punto. También puede admirarse la torre mudéjar de las campanas. CASTLE OF JERICA HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION In the town of Jerica, in Castellón; is conserved today the remains of a castle of which stands out a tower and little more, we still apprecciate Roman foundations ans some walls from Andalusí time; much of the building was destroyed at the time of the Carlist Wars. The major tower called “La Torreta” has walls of 1,5 m (4,92 ft) of thickness and semicircular vaults. SEGORBE: Desde la A-7 puede accederse a Segorbe por la N-225 o por la A-23 (carretera de Teruel), los monumentos se encuentran en el casco histórico, todos muy próximos.

JERICA: Jerica se encuentra muy cerca de Segorbe, accediéndose muy bien por la A-23 (Sagunto-Teruel).

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

SEGORBE: Visita exterior para el acueducto y las murallas, mientras la catedral dispone de varios escalones en el acceso que dificultan la entrada para usuarios de sillas de ruedas.

JERICA: Acceso no factible para silla de ruedas.

SEGORBE: From the A-7 you can reach Segorbe by the N-225 or by the A-23 (road to Teruel), the monuments are in the historical center, all very close.

JERICA: Jerica is very close to Segorbe, being very well connected by the A-23 (Sagunto-Teruel).

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

SEGORBE: Outside visit to the aqueduct and the walls, while the cathedral has several steps in the access that make it difficult for wheelchair users.

JERICA: Access not possible for wheelchairs.
