CASTELO DE AMIEIRA DO TEJO

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Es un castillo monumental, bien conservado, restaurado, con torres cuadradas y gran torre de homenaje, conserva las almenas. El castillo se remonta al siglo XIII, fue construido por Sancho II, y gestionado por la Orden del Hospital. Pero el edificio de planta cuadrada tiene un diseño gótico, hay vestigios de pinturas murales medievales.

ACCESO

Amieira se ubica cerca de Castelo Branco, puedes acceder por la N-3 (Torres Novas), por la N-18 (Guarda), por la N-3 (Castelo Branco), por la A-23 (Guarda y Torres Novas – vía de peaje electrónico), o bien por la IP2 (desde Portalegre y Estremoz). El castillo se ubica en el mismo pueblo.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

It is a monumental castle, well preserved, with square towers and great tower of homage, preserves the battlements. The castle dates back to the 13th century, was built by the king Sancho II and managed by the Hospital Order. But the square-shaped building has a Gothic design, there are vestiges of medieval mural paintings.

LOCATION

Amieira is located near Castelo Branco, you can access by N-3 (Torres Novas), the N-18 (Guarda), the N-3 (Castelo Branco), the A-23 (Guarda and Torres Novas – electronic toll road) or by the IP2 (from Portalegre and Estremoz). The castle is located in the same village.

ACCESS FOR THE HANDICAPPED

Outside visit, including the inner courtyard, but not to upper floors.
