PUENTE DE ARNEDILLO

El puente de Arnedillo es un puente de sillería y sillarejo, de un solo arco de medio punto que apoya sobre la misma roca, se data en el siglo XVII y conecta el pueblo con el castillo, el cementerio y la ermita de San Andrés y San Blas.

BRIDGE OF ARNEDILLO

The Bridge of Arnedillo is a bridge of ashlar masonry and rubble work, with a single semicircular arch that rests on the same rock. It dates back to the 17 th century and connects the town with the castle, the cemetery and the hermitage of San Andrés and San Blas.

IGLESIA PARROQUIAL DE ARNEDILLO

La iglesia de San Servando y San Germán de Arnedillo, es de orígenes antiguos, se cree que sobre una antigua iglesia gótica se erigió un templo nuevo en el siglo XVI-XVII (pórtico y coro); cubriéndose las naves con bóvedas de crucería estrellada, de estética gótica; el retablo mayor del siglo XVI esta dedicado a San Servando y San Germán y es de estilo renacentista; culminándose el templo con la torre ya en el siglo XVIII.

PARISH CHURCH OF ARNEDILLO

The church of San Servando and San German of Arnedillo, is of ancient origins, it is believed that on an old Gothic church a new temple was erected in the 16 th -17 th c. (portico and choir); the naves were covered with ribbed vaults of Gothic aesthetics; the main altarpiece of the 16 th c. is dedicated to San Servando and San German and is of Renaissance style; culminating the temple with the tower already in the 18 th century.

CASTILLO MEDIEVAL – ARNEDILLO

El castillo medieval de Arnedillo es un castillo de sillarejo, parcialmente enfoscado, por la técnica constructiva los expertos lo datan en el siglo X; esta ubicado sobre la falda de la montaña que domina Arnedillo, ademas, es tan solo parte de un complejo defensivo que llego a contar con 3 castillos y muralla; se encuentra en estado ruinoso, acceso peligroso.

MEDIEVAL CASTLE – ARNEDILLO

The medieval castle of Arnedillo is a castle of rubblework, partially plastered, by the constructive technique the experts date it in the 10 th century; is located on the side of the mountain overlooking Arnedillo, curiously, it is only of a defensive complex that had 3 castles and walls; it is in a ruinous state, dangerous access.

ERMITA DE SAN ANDRÉS – ARNEDILLO

La Ermita de San Andrés y San Blas de Arnedillo es un edificio del siglo XVIII, de estilo barroco; es de sillarejo enfoscado y ladrillo; el retablo es del siglo XVIII, de estilo rococó, albergando la imagen del santo.

HERMITAGE OF SAN ANDRÉS – ARNEDILLO

The Hermitage of San Andrés and San Blas of Arnedillo is an 18 th century building of Baroque style, it is of plastered and brick ashlar; the altarpiece is from the 18 th century, in the Rococo style, housing the image of the saint.

IGLESIA DE S. MIGUEL – PRÉJANO

La iglesia de San Miguel de Préjano, es una iglesia de dos naves con cabecera poligonal y gruesos contrafuertes; predominan los arcos apuntados, y las bóvedas de crucería, que datan el conjunto en el siglo XVI; no obstante, en su interior el decorado es plenamente barroco (cuadros) y el bello retablo mayor que data del siglo XVIII.

CHURCH OF S. MIGUEL – PRÉJANO

The church of San Miguel of Préjano, is a church of 2 naves with polygonal head and thick buttresses; the pointed arches predominate and the ribbed vaults, that date the set in the 16 th century; however, inside the decoration is fully baroque (paintings) and the beautiful main altarpiece dating from the 18 th century.

La iglesia de San Esteban de Préjano data del siglo XV, es por tanto de estilo gótico; construida en sillarejo y sillería, los muros son muy gruesos con recios contrafuertes de sillería, solo taladrados por arcos apuntados; el acceso es un arco apuntado gótico y la torre se corona en altura en ladrillo como es típico en La Rioja.

CHURCH OF S. ESTEBAN – PRÉJANO

The church of San Esteban of Préjano dates from the 15 th century, it is therefore of Gothic style; built in rubblework and ashlar masonry, the walls are very thick with strong buttresses of ashlar masonry, only drilled by pointed arches; the access is a pointed Gothic arch and the tower is crowned in height in brick as is typical in La Rioja.

MURALLA-CASTILLO – PRÉJANO

La muralla y castillo de Préjano forman parte de un complejo defensivo del que queda poco hoy en día; la torre de homenaje es cuadrada de sillarejo y sillería en las esquinas; conserva matacanes y un acceso en arco apuntado que nos remiten a una construcción en los siglos XIV-XV; el complejo se completaba con una recia muralla que tenia 2 puertas la de la Villa y la de S. Miguel, esta última es un arco de medio punto con buenas dovelas y almenada.

WALL-CASTLE – PRÉJANO

The wall and the castle of Préjano are part of a defensive complex that remains little today; the keep is square with rubblework and ashlar in the corners; it conserves machicolations and an access in pointed arch that refer us to a construction in the 14 th -15 th centuries; the complex was completed with a strong wall that had 2 gates (de la Villa and San Miguel), the latter is a semicircular arch with good voussoirs and battlemented.

HUMILLADERO – PRÉJANO

El humilladero de Préjano es un bonito edificio de sillería cubierto con bóveda, sobre un basamento de 2 escalones se coloco una cruz; el conjunto se construyó en el siglo XVI.

The Humilladero of Préjano is a beautiful ashlar masonry building covered with vault, on a base of 2 steps was placed a cross; the whole was built in the 16 th century.

CASTILLO DE CORNAGO

El castillo de Cornago es una fortaleza medieval, datada en los siglos XIV y XV, al parecer fue mandada construir por Don Álvaro de Luna, sobre otra anterior del siglo XII, tiene torreones circulares (3) y rectangulares (1), en alguna torre se conservan los matacanes; en el patio se conserva un aljibe; el acceso se realiza por un arco apuntado (Arco de la Campanilla).

CASTLE OF CORNAGO

The castle of Cornago is a medieval fortress, dated in the 14 th -15 th centuries, apparntly it was built by Don Álvaro de Luna, on another previous one of the 12 th century, it has circular (3) and rectangular (1) towers, in some tower the machicolations are preserved; in the courtyard a cistern is conserved; access is through a pointed arch (Arch of the Bell).

La iglesia de San Pedro Apóstol de Cornago, se data entre los siglos XV y XVI, es de estilo gótico, construida en sillarejo principalmente, con elementos en sillería y ladrillo; tiene gruesos contrafuertes,

VISITA : El horario de misas en verano (julio y agosto) es las vísperas a las 20:00 y los festivos a las 11:30; en invierno es las vísperas a las 19:00 y los festivos a las 11:30.

CHURCH OF SAN PEDRO – CORNAGO

The church of San Pedro Apostol of Cornago, dates between 15 th and 16 th centuries, is of gothic style, built in rubble work mainly, with elements in ashalar and brick; it has thick buttresses.

VISIT : Timetable of Masses in summer (July and August) in vespers at 8:00 pm and holidays at 11:30 am; in winter it is vespers at 7:00 pm and holidays at 11:30 am.

ICNITAS - CORNAGO

Las Icnitas de Cornago son el testimonio dejado por los dinosaurios hace unos 120 millones de años, aquellos animales dejaron las huellas en barro blando y diversos procesos de endurecimiento han permitido su conservación; en el barranco de los Cayos tenemos el yacimiento más importante, pero junto al castillo también tenemos una buena muestra.

ICNITAS – CORNAGO

The icnitas (footprints) of Cornago are the testimony left by the dinosaurs about 120 millons years ago, those animals left their footprints in soft mud and various hardening processes have allowed their conservation; in the Bank of Los Cayos we have the most important site; but next to the castle we also have a good sample.

ACCESO : El mejor acceso se realiza desde Calahorra-Arnedo y después desde Arnedo podemos acceder a Arnedillo, Préjano y por la carretera de Cervera del Río Alhama al pueblo de Cornago (ve mapa).

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS : Para el usuario de silla de ruedas hay que considerar: La zona alta de Cornago tiene un gran número de escaleras que impiden el acceso; lo mismo ocurre en Préjano, aquí con tramos más cortos; en Arnedillo solo se puede acceder al puente, los demás tienen escalones de acceso y el castillo es inviable.

ACCESS : The best access is from Calahorra-Arnedo and then from Arnedo we can easily access Arnedillo, Préjano and the road from Cervera cel Río Alhama to the town of Cornago (see map).

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED : For wheelchair users consider: The upper area of Cornago has a large number of stairs that impede access; the same happens in Préjano, here with shorter sections; in Arnedillo you can only access the bridge, the other sites have access steps and the castle is unfeasible.
