PRAÇA DO COMERCIO – LISBOA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

En el centro de Lisboa puede admirarse la plaza del Comercio, la más afamada de la capital lusa, esta compuesta por 3 edificios porticados y e cuarto lado esta abierto al Tajo, por donde atracaban los barcos, era sin duda la puerta de Lisboa, los edificios actuales se construyeron tras el terremoto de 1755. En la plaza sobresalen el arco triunfal y la estatua ecuestre de José I.

In the center of Lisbon you can admire the Praça do Comercio, the most famous of the Portuguese capital, it is made up of three porticoed buildings and the fourth side is open to the Tagus, where boats docked, was without a doubt the Lisbon gate, the buildings were built after the earthquake of 1755. In the square stand out the triumphal arch and the equestrian statue of Jose I.

ARCO DA RUA AUGUSTA – LISBOA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Arco da Rua Augusta es un monumental arco honorífico, ubicado en el lado norte de la plaza del comercio, el diseño es obra del arquitecto Santos de Carvalho, la obra finalizo en (1873) y entre las esculturas podemos ver a Vasco de Gama y al Marqués de Pombal.

The Arch da Rua Augusta is a monumental honorary arch, located on the north side of Praça do Comercio, the design is the work of the architect Santos de Carvalho, the work finished in (1873) and among the sculptures we can see to Vasco de Gama and to the Marquis of Pombal.

TEATRO NACIONAL Dª MARIA II – LISBOA

El teatro nacional Doña María II es un edificio del siglo XIX, originalmente se llamaba Teatro Nacional de Almeida Garret (el dramaturgo que pidió su construcción), en (1964) fue pasto de las llamas de un incendio.

The Dª. Maria National Theater is a 19 th century building, originally called the National Theater of Almeida Garret (the playwright who asked for its construction), in (1964), was also devastated by the flames of a fire.

CASA DO ALENTEJO – LISBOA

En el solar de un antiguo palacio árabe se construyó en el siglo XVII este edificio, centro de vida social de Lisboa, donde vale la pena tomarse unas cervezas, o incluso comer alguno de los platos tradicionales de la comida portuguesa.

ELEVADOR DE SANTA JUSTA – LISBOA

El elevador de Santa Justa conecta la Baixa con el barrio del Chiado, tiene 45 metros de altura, con estilo neogótico fue diseñado por el ingeniero portugués Raoul Mesnier de Ponsard quien lo termino en (1902), dentro tiene 2 ascensores que te llevan a una amplia terraza con cafetería donde se puede disfrutar de unas vistas increíbles.

ELEVATOR OF SANTA JUSTA – LISBOA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The Santa Justa elevator connects the Baixa with the Chiado neighborhood, is 45 meters (147.6 ft) high, with neogothic style designed by the Portuguese engineer Raoul Mesnier de Ponsard, who finished it in (1902), inside it has 2 lifts, that take you to a large terrace with cafe where you can enjoy the views.

ELEVATOR- Timetable from May to October from 7:30 am to 11:00 pm and the timetable from November to April is from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm, entrance 5.15 euros. VIEWPOINT- Timetable from May to Ocotber from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm and from November-April from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm; entrance 1.50 euros.

CONVENTO DEL CARMEN – LISBOA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

En el siglo XV Nuno Álvarez Pereira fundo un convento, para los carmelitas; era una iglesia gótica, pero el terremoto de (1755) la destruyó; en el siglo XIX el edificio fue reformado pero aún puede verse los arcos góticos desnudos, sin el tejado.

CONVENT OF CARMO – LISBOA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

In the 15 th century Nuno Álvarez Pereira founded a convent, for the Carmelites; was a Gothic church, but the earthquake of (1755) destroyed it; in the 19 th century the building was partially renovated but still can be seen the Gothic arches naked, without roof.

Los monumentos más conocidos se ubican en el centro de Lisboa. Junto a la Plaza del Comercio tenemos el arco de Rua Augusta. Si seguimos desde la Plaza del Comercio por la Rua Augusta llegaremos a la Plaza de Don Pedro IV (Plaza Rossio), desde allí es fácil acceder al elevador de Santa Justa y al Convento del Carmen.

The most popular monuments are located in the center of Lisbon. Next to the Praça do Comercio we have the arch or Rua Augusta. If we continue from the Praça do Comercio by Rua Augusta we will arrive to Praça de Dom Pedro IV (Rossio square), from here there is easy to access to Santa Justa elevator and to the Convent of Carmo.

Access is free and feasible in the Praça do Comercio and in the arch of Rua Augusta. Casa do Alentejo has 2 steps at the entrance and inside there are also steps.
