CASTELO (SOBROSO)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El castelo de Sobroso o Villasobroso es un castillo que se remonta al siglo XII, pero tras la revuelta Irmandiña de (1467-1468), fue reconstruido; es de sillería, con torreones, gartitones, patio de armas y matacanes. Muy bonita es la capilla románica, la torre de homenaje tiene forma de “L” con 13 m. de altura.

Horario de verano, de martes a viernes (10:00-13:00 y 17:00-20:00), sábados, domingos y festivos (11:00-14:00 y 17:00-20:00); mientras el horario de invierno es martes-viernes (10:00-13:00 y 16:00-19:00) y sábados, domingos y festivos (11:00-14:00 y 16:00-19:00).

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The castle of Sobroso or Villasobroso is a castle that dates back to the 12 th century, but after the Irmandiña revolt of (1467-1468), it was rebuilt; it is made of ashlar masonry, with turrets, watchtowers, courtyard and machicolations. Very beautiful is the Romanesque chapel, the keep is shaped like an “L” with 13 m. (42,63 ft) height.

Summer timetable from Tuesday to Friday (10:00-13:00 and 17:00-20:00), Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (11:00-14:00 and 17:00-20:00), while de winter timetable is Tuesday-Friday (10:00-13:00 and 16:00-19:00), and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (11:00-14:00 and 16:00-19:00).

CASTRO DE TROÑA (SOBROSO)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

Muy interesante es el Castro de Troña (Pias, Ponteareas), fue declarado BIC en (2010); es un castro celta con fuertes trabajos de aterrazamiento, potente foso excavado en la roca; dispone de viviendas circulares y petroglifos. Fue excavado por Florentino Cuevillas y Luis Pericot. Muy famoso es el petroglifo de la serpiente “Serpe de Troña”.

HILLFORT OF TROÑA (SOBROSO)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

Very interesting is the hillfort of Troña (Pias, Ponteareas), it was declared BIC in (2010); it is a celtic fort with strong terracing works, a powerful pit dug in the rock; it has circular housings and petroglyphs. It was excvated by Florentino Cuevillas and Luis Pericot. Very famous is the serpent petroglyph “Serpe de Troña”.

IGLESIA Sª MARIA (A CAÑIZA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia de Santa María da Franqueira, de A Cañiza se data en el siglo XIII, es un bonito edificio de sillería, la portada es una mezcla entre lo románico y lo gótico, con arquivoltas, en el tímpano puede admirarse el tema de la Adoración de los Reyes Magos; dentro destacan los arcos góticos y la techumbre de madera.

The church of Santa María da Franqueira, from A Cañiza dates from the 13 th century, it is a beautiful ashlar masonry building, the cover is a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic, with archivolts, in the tympanum can be admired the theme of Adoration of the Magi; Inside the Gothic arches and the wooden roof stand out.

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

A Cañiza y Puenteareas se ubican en la N-120 (Orense-Porriño), que corre paralela a la A-52. La iglesia de A Cañiza esta en el centro del pueblo y el castelo y el castro están indicados con cartelería en la N-120 junto a Vilasobroso.

El castro de Troña se ubica a 3km de Mondariz-Balneario, en el monte de la Ermita del Dulce nombre de Jesús.

LOCATION OF SITES

A Cañiaza and Puenteareas are located on the N-120 (Orense-Porriño), whcih go parallel to the A-52. The church of A Cañiza is in the center of the town and the castle and the hillfort are signposted with signpostes on the N-120 next to Vilasobroso.

Troña hillfort is located to 3 Km. of Mondariz-Balneario, on the hill of the Hermitage of Dulce Nombre de Jesús.
