MIRANDA DO DOURO: Se ubica en la región de Tras-Os-Montes, en el distrito de Bragança, la localidad se ubica en un alto cerro. Curiosamente, los habitantes hablan mirandés un dialecto del astur-leonés.

Se ubica además en el Parque Natural do Douro Internacional, por lo que tiene paisajes y vistas de los cortados verticales creados por el Duero, muy espectaculares.

Miranda fue fundada en (1286), su posición fronteriza motivo que fuese disputada largo tiempo con Castilla, entre sus monumentos podemos citar las murallas, el castillo, la catedral, varios palacetes y el museo de la Tierra de Miranda. En Miranda do Douro hay bonitas casas del siglo XV, como vemos en la Rua da Costanilha, además podemos admirar la puerta gótica.

MIRANDA DO DOURO: En la localidad hay poco aparcamiento, no es recomendable adentrarse mucho.

Hay un parking pequeño, justo a la entrada de la localidad y otro junto al castillo. El aparcamiento es gratuito.

Vernur colabora con muchos ayuntamientos en la regulación del tráfico de sus municipios, evitando colapsar algunas zonas, lo que provocaría “Turismofobia”, facilitando a la vez el acceso del visitante tanto al aparcamiento como a los centros históricos.

MIRANDA DO DOURO: In the locality there is little parking, it is not recommended to enter too far.

MIRANDA DO DOURO: En cuanto al firme tenemos (caminos de piedra). Pavimento recio y compacto. Respecto al desnivel es una zona plana, con alguna cuesta. No hay bordillos en las aceras.

Con silla de ruedas el acceso es factible al castillo de Miranda do Douro; pero no a la catedral de Miranda do Douro (escalones internos).

La tecnología de las sillas de ruedas ha avanzado mucho, cada vez más ligeras, hay modelos plegables, con adaptaciones, consigue una moderna, incluso hay ciudades donde se pueden alquilar, contacta con nosotros para añadir información.

INFO HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La catedral de Miranda do Douro es de estilo manierista-herreriano. Se data en el siglo XVI. En el exterior destaca la fachada con sus dos torres, con un diseño muy austero.

Dentro sobresalen los múltiples retablos, en especial el del Altar Mayor obra de Gregorio Hernández el gran escultor vallisoletano.

INFO HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El castillo de Miranda do Douro es una construcción que se ubica en la cima de la ciudad, en (1762) exploto el polvorín, dañando seriamente al edificio; conserva la torre de homenaje, 2 puertas y una torre, que han sido restauradas. Se data en tiempos de Alfonso Henriques, primer rey de Portugal.

El Palacio de del Obispo (Miranda do Douro) se conserva en ruinas, se puede pasear por el antiguo claustro. Además se puede admirar la antigua muralla de Miranda, muy bien conservada.

También puedes visitar el Museo de la Tierra de Miranda (obras etnográficas), y si te gusta la arqueología podrás admirar los vestigios del acueducto.
