CASTILLO DE VALVERDE DE LA VERA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

La fortaleza tiene sus orígenes hacia el siglo XIV, cuando la dinastía de los Monroy la construyó; se cree que algunos muros de la iglesia pertenecen a este momento; incluso algunos estudiosos han sugerido que debajo de la iglesia pueda existir los cimientos de un ribat andalusí, anterior; en el siglo XV el castillo pertenece a la dinastía Nieva, que hicieron reformas, construyendo la iglesia con restos de la antigua fortaleza y el castillo nuevo, con la torre que hoy se conserva ya a finales del s. XV.

CASTLE OF VALVERDE DE LA VERA

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The fortress has its origins towards 14 th century, when the dynasty of Monroy constructed it; is is beleved that some walls of the church belong to this moment; even some scholars have suggested that down the church there are foundations of a earlier Andalusian Ribat; in the 15 th century the castle belongs to the Nieva dynasty, who made reforms, built the church with remains of the old fortress and the new castle, with the tower that is now preserved from the end of 15 th century.

PUENTE DE FUENTE CHIQUITA (HERVÁS)

El puente de Fuente Chiquita de Hervás es una edificación que data del siglo XVI, de sillería granítica, consta de un solo arco, de buenas dovelas, aunque el resto de la estructura es de mampostería tosca.

BRIDGE OF FOUNTAIN CHIQUITA (HERVÁS)

The bridge of Fuente Chiquita de Hervás is a building dating from the 16 th century, with granite ashlar masonry, consisting of a single arch, with voussoirs, although the rest of the structure is of rough masonry.

El Barrio judío de Hervás, es una de las juderías más importantes de España, buena parte del conjunto data del siglo XIII, es un conjunto de calles estrechas y empinadas, con casas con balcones, fuentes y pilones; los restaurantes en la zona ofrecen platos típicos de la cocina sefardí.

The Jewish suburb of Hervás, is one of the most important Jewish suburbs in Spain, much of the set dates from the 13 th century, is a set of narrow and steep streets, with houses with balconies, fountains and fonts; the restaurants in the area offer typical dishes of Sephardic cuisine.

IGLESIA Sª MARIA (HERVÁS)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia de Santa María de Hervás, es un edificio que se remonta al siglo XIII, pero en el siglo XVI se hicieron un buen número de reformas como la fachada de estilo renacentista, con su frontón triangular; en el interior la parte más antigua es el baptisterio y la más moderna las capillas del siglo XVIII.

The church of Santa María de Hervás, is a building that dates back to the 13 th century, but in the 16 th century a number of reforms were made as the facade of Renaissance style, with its triangular pediment; inside the oldest part is the baptistery and the most modern the 18 th century chapels.

Las termas romanas se conservan dentro de un edificio del siglo XIX, ubicado en el centro de Baños de Montemayor, en la misma carretera N-630-A; tenemos un espacio de planta circular, de 8 m. de diámetro, cubierto con una cúpula (sección semiesférica), con hornacinas para ubicar bañeras ovaladas.

BATHS (BAÑOS DE MONTEMAYOR)

The Roman baths are kept inside a 19 th century building, located in the center of Baños de Montemayor, on the same road N-630-A; we have a circular floor space of 8 m. (26.24 ft) in diameter, covered with a dome (hemispherical section), with niches to locate oval bathtubs.

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

El mejor acceso es por la A-66 (Salamanca-Plasencia), desviándote por la N-630-A para acceder a Baños y saliendo por la salida 438 para acceder a Hervás.

La zona más turística de Hervás es la más próxima al río Ambroz y a la iglesia que se ubica en la zona alta de Hervás.

The best access is by the A-66 (Salamanca-Plasencia); pass by the N-630-A to access Baños and leaving by exit 438 to access Hervás.

The most tourist area of Hervás is the closest to the Ambroz River and the church that is located in the upper area of Hervás.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVALIDOS:

HERVÁS: Las calles son empinadas, en ocasiones el pavimento es muy irregular, en la iglesia de Santa María hay 2 escalones en el acceso y el marco de madera (no accesible). El puente si es accesible.

BAÑOS DE MONTEMAYOR: No hay grandes barreras arquitectónicas (tiene rampa ).

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED

HERVÁS: The streets are steep, sometines the pavement is very irregular, in the church of Santa María there are 2 steps in the access and the wooden frame (not accessible). The bridge it is is accessible.

MONTEMAYOR BATHS: There are no big architectural barriers (there are a ramp).
