CASTELO – MARIALVA

INFORMACIÓN HISTÓRICO-ARTÍSTICA

Sobre un cerro rocoso se ubica el castillo de Marialva, dispone de torre de homenaje de planta rectangular, y al menos 2 recintos murados; la muralla exterior tiene algunas torres de refuerzo; en el interior puede verse el Ayuntamiento, la picota y 2 iglesias (Senhor de los Passos and São Tiago).

La Oficina de Turismo abre en verano (Junio-Septiembre) de 10:00 a 13:30 y de 15:30 a 19:30 y en invierno (Octubre-Mayo) de 9:30 a 12:30 y de 14:00 a 18:00.

Marialva se ubica entre Bragança y Guarda, se accede por la IP2.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVÁLIDOS

El acceso a la ciudadela es difícil por una cuesta muy empinada.

On a hill is located the castle of Marialva, has a tower of homage of rectangular plan, and at least 2 walled enclosures, the outer wall has some reinforcing towers; in the interior can be seen the City council, the picota (monument) and 2 churches (Senhor de los Passos and São Tiago).

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE

The Tourist Office opens in summer (June-September) from 10:00 to 1:30 and from 3:30 to 7:30 and in winter (October-May) from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 2:00 to 6:00.

Access to the citadel is difficult by a very steep slope.

El castillo se remonta al siglo X, con una torre de homenaje principal de estilo mozárabe y otras 5 torres almenadas que fortalecen el conjunto; el acceso principal se hace por la Puerta del Rey con 2 fuertes torreones. Sabemos de la conquista del castillo por Don Alfonso Henríquez en (1139).

Horario de verano (Junio-Septiembre) todos los días de 9:30 a 12:30 y de 14:00 a 18:00 y en invierno (octubre-mayo) de martes a viernes es de 9:00 a 12:30 y de 14:00 a 17:00. Domingos y festivos de 9:30 a 13:30 y de 14:00 a 16:30. Entrada gratuita

Con silla de ruedas el acceso es restringido, no podrás subir a las torres, pero podrás ver gran parte de la estructura.

The castle dates back to the 10 th century, with a main Mozarabic style tribute tower and 5 towers with battlements that strengthen the fortress; the main access is made by the King's Gate with 2 strong towers. We know the conquest of the castle by Don Afonso Henríques (1139).

Summer timetable (June-September) every day, from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 2:00 to 6:00 and in winter (October-May) from Tuesday to Friday is 9:00 to 12:30 and from 2:00 to 5:00. Sunday and public holidays from 9:30 to 1:30 and from 2:00 to 4:30. Free Access.

Las murallas son de sillería, la muralla se conserva casi al completo faltando solo en el ángulo SE, en su tiempo contó con 15 torres, de las que hoy solo se conservan 4; tenia 4 puertas y 3 poternas. La más interesante es la puerta del Rey con un largo pasillo de acceso y dos torres; las otras puertas son las puertas de Carvalho, junto al castillo, la puerta de São João y la puerta de Traição.

Con silla de ruedas el acceso es restringido, no podrás subir al adarve de la muralla (escaleras), pero veras muchas estructuras.

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The walls are of ashlar masonry, the wall is preserved almost completely, missing only in the SE corner, in this time it had 15 towers, of which today only 4 are preserved; also had 4 doors and 3 gates. The most interesting is the King's door with a long access corridor and two towers; the other doors are the gates of Carvalho, next to the castle, the door of São o João and the door of Betrayal.
