La Fuente de la Sirena (Fonte da Sereia) de Tondela, es una bonita construcción de estilo barroco que se data en el siglo XVIII, el agua se recoge en una pila de 3 lóbulos, el sector central es un rectángulo enmarcado por 2 pilastras rematadas en jarrones decorativos, donde vemos, la sirena en el centro acompañada de 2 monstruos, la parte superior es un frontón curvo con heráldica real.

FOUNTAIN OF SEREIA (TONDELA)

HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC INFORMATION

The Fountain of the Siren (Fonte da Sereia) of Tondela, is a beautiful building of Baroque style that dates back to the 18 th century, the water is collected in a font of 3 lobes, the central sector is a rectangle framed by to pilaters topped in decorative vases, where we see, the mermaid in the center accompanied by 2 monsters, the upper part is a curved pediment with Royal heraldry.

IGLESIA DO CARMO (TONDELA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

La iglesia del Carmen de Tondela es un edificio del siglo XVI, pero la fachada es del siglo XVIII, destacando el arco rebajado de la entrada, los 3 óculos, el frontón mixtilíneo; así como la torre de planta cuadrada, que es el campanario.

The church of Carmo of Tondela is a building of the 16 th century, but the facade is of 18 th century, highlighting the lower arch of the entrance, the 3 oculi, the mixtilinear pediment; as well as the square tower, which is the bell tower.

La iglesia parroquial de Tondela es un edificio moderno de una única nave, de sillería; la fachada dispone de 2 contrafuertes, que encierran el arco de entrada, encima vemos ventanales, un oculo y un reloj, en el muro de la alta torre-campanario.

PARISH CHURCH (TONDELA)

The parish church of Tondela is a modern building of a single nave, of ashlar masonry; the facade has 2 buttresses, which enclose the entrance arch, above we see large windows, an oculus and a clock, in the wall of the high tower-bell tower.

MUSEO TERRAS DE BESTEIROS (TONDELA)

INFORMACIÓN HISTORICO-ARTÍSTICA

El Museo de Terras de Besteiros de Tondela, se ubica en el pazo de Santa Ana, un bello edificio barroco del siglo XVIII, el termino Besteiros alude a los hombres que en el pasado eran hábiles en el uso de la ballesta, tiene colecciones de la etapa paleolítica, romana (planta baja) y de la industrialización y el pasado reciente (planta primera).

The Musuem of Terras de Besteiros of Tondela, is located in the Palace of Santa Ana, a beautidul baroque building of the 18 th century, the word Besteiros alludes to the men who in the past were skilled in the use of the crossbow, has collections of the Paleolithic, Roman stage (ground floor) and industrialization and the recent past (first floor).

ACCESO POR CARRETERA

(TONDELA)

UBICACIÓN DE ENCLAVES:

Tondela se encuentra en la N-2 entre Viseu y Coimbra.

Sao Joao do Monte se encuentra en la N-230, en la carretera de Tondela a Aveiro.

Todos los monumentos de Tondela se encuentran en el centro de la localidad, junto a la vía principal.

(TONDELA)

LOCATION OF SITES

Tondela is located on the N-2 between Viseu and Coimbra.

Sao Joao do Monte is located on the N-230, on the road from Tondela to Aveiro.

All the monuments of Tondela are located in the center of the village, next to the main road.

ACCESO PARA MINUSVALIDOS:

Con silla de ruedas tenemos acceso factible a la Fonte da Sereia, a la iglesia del Carmen ( escalón interior ) y a la iglesia de Sao Joao do Monte; por otro, lado el acceso es limitado al Museo Terras de Besteiros. Acceso no factible a la iglesia parroquial ( escaleras ).

ACCESS FOR HANDICAPPED

With a wheelchair we have access to the Fonte da Sereia, the church of Carmo (inside step) and the church of Sao Joao do Monte; on the other hand, access is limited to the Terras de Besteiros Museum. Access not feasible to the parish church (steps).
